About

BESTLIFE2030 (Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services in Territories of European Overseas) is a granting mechanism focusing on preserving and restoring biodiversity in the EU’s Outermost Regions (ORs) and Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs). The project spans 6 regions worldwide (Amazonia, Caribbean, Indian Ocean, Macaronesia, Pacific, and North Atlantic) and engages a consortium of organisations to guide and empower local stakeholders in implementing conservation projects, thus emphasizing capacity development, local community engagement and knowledge sharing. IUCN-FNC endorses the role of “regional hub” for the Pacific region, which consists of building small organisations’ capacity to respond to call for projects, implement them once funded and report to the EU in accordance with its standards.

The Pacific Islands Roundtable for Nature Conservation (PIRT) is supported by the Pacific BioScapes Programme.

The Pacific BioScapes Programme is a European Union (EU) funded action, managed and implemented by the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP).
The Programme contributes to the sustainable development of Pacific Small Island Developing States through the implementation of 30 focused activities taking place across a diversity of ecosystems in 11 countries (Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Vanuatu) that will address critical issues concerning coastal and marine biodiversity, and ecosystem-based responses to climate change adaptation.
